Protect Yourself from Scams

Scams are sadly on the rise across the UK, with criminals using increasingly clever tactics to trick people out of money or personal information. We know that people living with physical disabilities may face additional barriers when it comes to recognising or reporting a scam. That’s why we’ve created a simple guide to help you stay one step ahead of fraudsters, protect your information, and know what to do if something goes wrong.


We have also created a handy checklist which can be downloaded and shared with friends, family, or carers. We recommend that this is printed and put somewhere prominent, such as next to the phone or computer, to remind you to stay vigilant.


If you think you’ve been scammed, don’t wait. Report it to Action Fraud, the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud and cybercrime:
